SDI is now accepting applications for the Next Big Step fall class that will begin Tuesday, September 16, 2014. The class is specifically for job seekers with disabilities who are seeking competitive employment.
“We are excited to add an additional fall class to our program offerings,” says Susan Menhard, Program Director of the Next Big Step initiative. “There is such a demand for services. We hope we can continue to empower even more people with disabilities to enter the competitive job market.”
The eight-week program teaches job candidates the best practices in resume writing, behavioral interviewing, networking, public speaking, marketing yourself as a professional with a disability and much more.
The fall class will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1-4 p.m. at the Taylor Community Science Resource Center, 4900 Manchester Ave. Class begins September 16 and runs for eight weeks. Any person with a disability who is interested in participating is welcome to submit an application. Space is limited and filling quickly. There is no fee to attend the class.
Additional classes, individual career counseling services and a resume bank are also available. Interested parties should contact Tina Vinson, Employment Specialist, at 314-588-7090 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
