Announcing Starkloff’s Inaugural Online Capstone Course

Posted On:

On March 19th, Starkloff Career Academy for the first time will bring our Capstone Course to the World Wide Web.

This new 5-week hybrid online and on-ground course combines the best aspects of the Capstone Course with e-Learning technology to create a unique course unlike anything in the region. The new course includes a 4-hour in-person introductory class followed by 10 2-hour webinars, as well as self-guided learning. Topics include:

  • Telling your Disability story with strength;
  • Making amazing first impressions;
  • Advanced resume writing to stand out from the crowd;
  • Preparing for any interview question; and
  • Negotiating pay, benefits and accommodations.

The course will also include 2 full-day boot camps during which candidates will practice their interviewing skills with real recruiters from Starkloff Disability Institute’s Partner Companies.

“We are hopeful this model for our Capstone Course will expand our impact to empower even more people with a disability to compete in the job market,” said Career Academy Director Susan Menhard. “Instead of asking candidates to find transportation for 16 in-person classes, we’re only asking them to attend 3. Candidates who couldn’t attend the course in the past now have a new option for getting this one-of-a-kind training experience.”

Job seekers with disabilities interested in attending the hybrid course can submit an interest form at https://starkloff.org/starkloff-career-academy/ or call the Starkloff Career Academy at 314-588-7090.
