On October 18, Starkloff Disability Institute will host the first Irons for Inclusion Golf Tournament presented by Centene. Irons for Inclusion is St. Louis’ first fully-inclusive golf tournament and will be hosted at Forest Hills Country Club.
The four-player scramble begins with a 9:00 AM shotgun start and includes breakfast, 18 holes of golf, cart, lunch, cocktail reception, raffles and on-course games. Proceeds go to support the life-changing programs at SDI. Best of all, Irons for Inclusion represents the area’s first fully accessible golf tournament.
“We’re ensuring that everyone who wants to play has the resources they need to play,” explains Scott Thompson, SDI Director of Development. “We’re excited to have the involvement of the Disabled Athlete Sports Association (DASA), and two teams from DASA will be playing on the 18th.”
Our Honorary Athlete for the event will be three-time Paralympian swimmer Colleen Young. A 2016 graduate of Lindbergh High School, Colleen recently captured silver in the 200-meter Individual Medley at the Paralympic Games in Tokyo.
In conjunction with the tournament festivities, SDI is holding a silent auction where participants can bid on a vast assortment of sports memorabilia, gift baskets, tickets to local entertainment venues and much, much more.
Forest Hills offers championship-level golf in a picturesque setting, and spots are filling up fast. Don’t wait to sign up your foursome.
“If you’re a golfer, then definitely come on out to Forest Hills Country Club,” Scott invites. “It’s going to be a wonderful day of golf and good times. And there will be tons of exciting auction items to bid on, so be on the lookout for those as well.”
