Job Seekers Clean Up Their Resumes with Boeing

Posted On:

For the second year in a row, Boeing Human Resources representatives worked with job seekers with disabilities to polish their job-hunting skills at SDI’s Spring Clean Up event. This year, they met at the Center for Head Injury Services on May 15th.

Over 30 employees from Boeing’s Human Resources Career Foundations Program participated in the two-hour event, working one-on-one and in small groups with individual job seekers to tailor their resumes and conduct mock interviewers. Later, the entire Boeing team gathered for a Q&A session.

For Tricia O’Brien, the small groups were especially helpful. “I appreciated that four different HR professionals worked closely with me so that I can see my strengths and weaknesses as a candidate interviewing for a job,” she said. “Now I know what to work on, and I’ll be ready when the time comes for the real thing.”

Boeing employee Taylor Farmon found it to be an opportunity to help others expand themselves. “One of the reasons I chose a career in Human Resources was to help develop talent both inside and outside of our company, and volunteering with Starkloff was a great opportunity to do so.”

Christopher Jeckel, another Boeing employee, said it was just an enjoyable experience. “Working with Starkloff and its wonderful consumers was simply terrific.”

Starkloff Disability Institute would like to thank Boeing for helping organize such a great event, as well as the Center for Head Injury Services for hosting.
