Starkloff will be offering its award-winning Capstone Course online for the first time beginning on March 19.

This new 5-week course is a hybrid online and on-ground course which combines the best aspects of the Capstone Course with e-Learning technology to create a unique course unlike anything in the region. The course includes:

• A four-hour, in-person introductory class
• Two full days of in-person networking and interviewing practice with real recruiters from Starkloff Disability Institute’s Partner Companies
• 10 webinars and self-guided learning sessions including topics on:
  • Telling Your Disability Story with Strength
  • Making Amazing First Impressions
  • Advanced Resume Writing to Stand Out
  • Preparing for Any Interview Question
  • Negotiating Pay, Benefits and Accommodations

“The Career Academy team is constantly researching professional journal articles and meeting with corporate recruiters to update material,” says Program Director Susan Menhard. “The SCA curriculums have been initiated and are constantly changing, updating — essentially evolving since the first course in 2012.”

Our Career Academy has been approved as a continuing education course by Maryville University. “We have condensed the sessions we have had in the past to lessen the complexity of the tasks, increasing the focus on networking, elevator chats and resume development,” Susan explains.
