SDI Shines at the St. Louis ILG Disability and Veteran Vendor Fair

Posted On:

Federal contractors and area employers swarmed the Starkloff Disability Institute information table on April 17 to learn how we can increase their disability hiring. The Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) and the St. Louis Industry Liaison Group (ILG) partnered together for the fifth year to host this fair at the Millennium Student Center at University of Missouri – St. Louis.

SDI staff Lori Becker, David Newburger, Colleen Starkloff and Dallas Adams met with attendees to give a full view of SDI’s programs and how they can benefit from our various services.

“Our distinction comes from preparing both candidates and companies for employment situations,” Co-Founder, Colleen Starkloff says. “We are also unique in that all of our candidates have college experience or a technical certification and can work in competitive jobs in all levels of a company.”

Starkloff’s position as the Workforce, Workplace Disability Advisor was on full display, as we unveiled our new Accessible Workplace Tour video. Attendees were shown the video during the ILG Fair program and played on continuous loop at the SDI table. The video was well received by the audience, and it highlighted some pieces of adaptive technology that provides people with disabilities the accommodations they need to be successful employees.

Events like this ILG Fair are important to the whole of the business community to connect federal contractors with the resources they need to successfully provide opportunities to people with disabilities. As Chief Operations Officer, Lori Becker says in the video, “Business works best when everyone works.”
