Meet Meg Geiger, SDI Development Associate

Originally focusing on journalism and graphic design during her 2005-2009 stay at Mizzou, Meg shifted to a major in Sociology her junior year with an emphasis on Social Inequalities.

Her passion for charitable work was fueled to the max after several philanthropic post-graduate posts with local agencies. Through these volunteer efforts, she discovered that working in non-commercial development was the right course for her.

“Having experience in the field of non-profit disability work, of course I knew the name Starkloff and what outstanding work is done by this organization,” Meg proclaimed.

While here, she wants to broaden our grant foundations and assist the grant writer, expand our fundraising events and work one-on-one with corporate donors. Meg hopes to serve as a Major Gifts officer in the future of SDI.

“I was able to dip my toes into event planning with the Starkloff Career Academy graduation,” Meg adds. “We will be adding an exciting new business event this October that I am thrilled to be working on!”

Meg is also a certified yoga instructor who has four pets — two cats, Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton; an English bulldog named Jolene; and Ruby, her little 3-legged pit-bull.

Flourishing developments are guaranteed for both Meg and SDI!

Meet Brian Chao, SDI Business Manager.

Brian received his Bachelors of Science in Business Administration with majors in accounting and human resource management from Washington University in 2012, and finished his Masters of Accounting in 2013.

He was then a 2014 candidate in our Career Academy’s Capstone Course. Brian continued to serve us philanthropically while working as an Internal Auditor at Enterprise Bank & Trust.

“In 2016, I joined SDI’s Board of Directors to further support the organization’s purpose and help them reach their goals,” Brian declared. “The opportunity to work at SDI came about in early 2017, and I soon came to the realization that I could contribute the most as a fulltime staff member.”

Brian’s excited to be part of our team. He wants to support everyone by building on the success of our Career Academy, as well as the development of our corporate relationships.

“Personally,” Brian details, “I will be working towards streamlining our operations and making sure the staff’s needs are adequately taken care of.” He will also work with senior staff and the Board of Directors to enhance our financial operations, help prepare for our first audit.

An avid foodie and big fan of all kinds of music from jazz, classic rock and blue grass to hip-hop, indie rock and EDM, don’t be surprised if you see Brian at a concert, music festival or the latest restaurant in town.

Watch Brian direct and lead SDI towards our goals while perfecting his own skills at the same time.

Welcome Meg and Brian to the SDI team. These two new additions to Starkloff are helping ensure a bright future for the organization and all those we serve.
