Unconscious Bias

Presenter: Mary Thompson, Paraquad, Accessibility Specialist & Kim Lackey, Paraquad, Director of Public Policy and Advocacy

Overview: Studies have shown that hiring managers often worry about how a team will react to an employee receiving a workplace accommodation. Supervisors also often have concerns, both conscious and unconscious, about how to support and possibly discipline an employee with a disability. Employees often don’t disclose a disability or request accommodations out of fear. This panel presented by Centene will explore the difficulties of supervising an employee with a disability including how to set up a formal accommodations process, how to manage a team of employees who worry about special treatment, and how to discipline an employee with a disability who might need an accommodation.
