Frequently Asked Questions

Who does Access U serve?

Access U serves students who are currently enrolled in 2- or 4-year college or university, trade school, or technical school. The best time for a student to join Access U is once a student declares a major and has an idea of what career path they are interested in.

What if a student doesn’t know what career path or major interests them yet?

College students interested in career exploration can attend SDI’s Dream Big Career Camp to learn more about careers our partner companies offer. Career Camp takes place every summer. Learn more about the Dream Big program and upcoming events here.

We also encourage that students visit their campus career center to take available assessments that help students find career paths that match their skills and interests.

How much does Access U cost?

Students receive Access U services at no charge as long as they remain engaged with the curriculum.

Will Access U find an internship for me?

No, Access U does not provide job placement. Instead, our curriculum teaches students how to become competitive job seekers and independently attain employment to meet their career goals.

How is Access U different from my campus career office?

Access U curriculum has a strong emphasis on disability. Access U teaches best practices on disclosing a disability, requesting accommodations, the rights guaranteed under the ADA, which companies are the most inclusive and welcoming, and more. Access U recognizes that students with disabilities have to navigate many barriers when preparing for internships and works to educate and empower students to meet their career goals.
