Your gift means connection to resources, to community, to a world where disabled people are not an afterthought.
1 in 4 people has a disability. People with disabilities 2x more likely to be unemployed, 2x more likely to be underemployed, and 2x more likely to live in poverty than their nondisabled peers.
Starkloff Disability Institute is working to change that.
Our programs help disabled people thrive by acting on both sides of the problem:
Empowering Candidates: Our candidate programs empower people with disabilities to take control of their careers and succeed in competitive professions. Through a range of programs targeting youth, college students, and adults, Starkloff teaches people with disabilities to step into their power as disabled professionals and equips them with the tools to thrive in the workplace.
Improving Systems: Through corporate partnerships, community outreach, conferences, media, and more, Starkloff dispels myths and helps companies implement inclusive hiring and customer service practices. We use many approaches to teach people how common disability is, that it isn’t something to fear or be uncomfortable with, and how they can be more welcoming.
Working at the micro and macro levels, Starkloff is changing hearts and minds and building a community where disabled people can thrive.
Other Ways to Give
Stock Gifts
Donating stocks allows you to avoid capital gains tax and often take a charitable deduction for the full value of the asset. Use our tool to donate stock so we can track your gift, send you the correct receipt, and ensure you can get the tax savings you deserve. If you would prefer to make your donation through your broker, access our transfer information on the tool page linked below to notify Starkloff of your gift.
Donor-Advised Funds (DAFs)
Donor-Advised Funds (DAFs) are investment accounts for the sole purpose of supporting charitable organizations today. This tool automatically links with your DAF, allows you to recommend how you’d like your gift to be used and notifies Starkloff of your intentions. Using the link below to grant from your DAF also saves us a lot of time, so thank you! It’s a great way to ensure consistent financial support while saving cash for immediate needs.
Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs)
If you are 70.5 or older, giving from your IRA can help reduce your taxable income—and for those over 73 who must take a Required Minimum Distribution (RMD)—an IRA gift is a simple way to fulfill it! By using the link below to give from your IRA, you can auto-complete your paperwork and we can track your gift to send you the proper tax receipts.
Cryptocurrency Gifts (Crypto)
We now accept donations of Ethereum, Bitcoin, and other cryptocurrencies. This gives us one more way to fund our work and can provide you with extra tax benefits.
Note:
Starkloff Disability Institute partners with FreeWill, a secure platform, on these tools for non-cash gifts. Our goal is to make the process as easy as possible for you. If you have any questions or difficulty using the tools, please let us know! Call 314-588-7090 or email Aimee Wehmeier, Chief Development Officer, at awehmeier@starkloff.org.
