Almost weekly, we’re looking for volunteers that are actively working in a professional setting to help educate, advise or partner as part of our adult and youth candidate programs.
SDI is seeking local professionals to meet with job candidates with a disability to help them expand their professional network. Research shows that 85% of all jobs are filled via networking, which often presents many obstacles for disabled job candidates. The goal of the Professional Connectors program is to help qualified job candidates with disabilities overcome those networking obstacles by connecting them with inclusive-minded professionals from the St. Louis region.
Companies and individuals can get involved as guest lecturers or practitioners working directly with job candidates in the Starkloff Career Academy. The eight-week capstone course always welcomes new teams of volunteers and experts on a variety of subjects related to successfully entering the workforce.
The Starkloff Disability Institute Young Friends strives to create a world that welcomes people with disabilities by informing a new generation. Young professional members (under 40) can choose their level of involvement based on their schedule and availability.
SDI has internships available for college and post-college students across multiple disciplines including roles in marketing, event planning, and social work. These positions are volunteer internships and are the perfect opportunity for those looking to develop professionals skills within a nonprofit organization setting.
SDI is in need of a photographer to document DREAM BIG Career Camps during June 4-8 and June 18-22. The photographer will document students participating in learning exercises, conversations with professionals, and hands-on activities at businesses such as Express Scripts, Monsanto, LaunchCode, Boeing and more.
SDI is in need of back-office and administrative help throughout the year. Volunteers are needed for office reception, database management, event management and social media / marketing coordination. Most office and event volunteers are needed on an ongoing basis.
