Almost weekly, we’re looking for volunteers that are actively working in a professional setting to help educate, advise or partner as part of our adult and youth candidate programs.
Companies and individuals can get involved as guest lecturers or practitioners working directly with job candidates in the Starkloff Career Academy. All three levels of these virtual courses welcome experts on a variety of subjects related to success in the workplace: Foundations focuses on entering the workforce, Transitions focuses on those changing careers or navigating a newly acquired disability, and Advancements focuses on professionals looking to take on leadership positions at work and beyond.
Please contact Debby Mize for details about how you can get involved.
Join a group of like-minded professionals in advancing the mission of the Starkloff Disability Institute through Friends of Starkloff Disability Institute! This group strives to create a world that welcomes people with disabilities by increasing visibility of our work and the disability community, a population of people often excluded or ignored. Friends, both disabled and non-disabled, join us for social events and provide hands-on help with special events and fundraising. Friends also enjoy invitations to exclusive networking events. Build your professional network and advance equity for people with disabilities.
Please contact Maggie Mahoney for details about how you can get involved.
Next event: Volunteer to help at our 20th Birthday Bash, April 29, 2023!
SDI has internships available for college and post-college students across multiple disciplines including roles in marketing, event planning, and social work. These positions are volunteer internships and are the perfect opportunity for those looking to develop professionals skills within a nonprofit organization setting.
Please contact Blair Dammerman for more information about available internships.
SDI is in need of a photographer to document our in-person Dream Career Camps: June 26-30, July 10-14, and July 24-28. Volunteers do not need to be available all three weeks and even partial availability during a week is helpful to us. The photographer will document students participating in learning exercises, conversations with professionals, and hands-on activities at businesses such as Bayer, Bi-State, Purina, SSM, and more.
Please contact Danielle Giuffrida for more details about how you can get involved.
SDI is in need of event and administrative help throughout the year. Whether you are looking to volunteer on a regular basis or are interested in occasional opportunities around big events, we would love to have you join us to advance our work helping disabled people thrive!
Please contact Tom Giles for details about how you can get involved.
